The children discussed which qualities would make an object sink or float and then we did an experiment to test out these theories. The children had to predict what they thought would happen when putting an object in water and then test to see if their hypothesis was correct. After we had a basic understanding of sinking and floating, I gave the students a challenge. They had to take a piece of play doh and find a shape in which it could float.
